Foreword
Born from the merger in 1993 of the “Groupe d’étude en chimie organométallique (GECOM)” and of the “Concertation en chimie de coordination (CONCOORD)” group, GECOM–CONCOORD is an annual national conference on inorganic chemistry. The five last editions of GECOM–CONCOORD took place in France in Métabief (Doubs, 2012), Merlimont (Pas-de-Calais, 2011), Lyon (Rhône, 2010), Albe (Bas-Rhin, 2009), and Dourdan (Essonne, 2008). The 2013 edition was organized by scientists from the Université Montpellier-2 (Éric Clot, Yannick Guari, Magali Lambert, Joulia Larionova, Danielle Laurencin, Jérôme Long, Laurence Raehm, Fatima Rezkallah, Sébastien Richeter, and Sébastien Clément; Institut Charles Gerhardt) and was held between 26 and 31 May 2013 in Cap d’Agde, a well-known Mediterranean sea resort.
The conference gathered about 100 participants, ranging from early-stage researchers to more established academic ones, and also industrialists. All exchange views on their research subject have been held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere (Fig. 1). The 13 plenary lectures, 38 oral communications, 12 flash presentations, and two poster sessions contributed to favour discussions and exchanges throughout the week.

A wide variety of topics were addressed during this 21st edition of GECOM–CONCOORD, including homogeneous catalysis, magnetism in transition metal complexes, molecular modelling, the synthesis and characterization of ligands and metallic/organometallic complexes, coordination polymers, metal complexes for biomedical applications, rare-earth-metal coordination compounds, thereby demonstrating the variety and activity of this research community. This thematic issue of Comptes rendus Chimie intends to provide an overview of some of the topics covered during the conference. All the submitted manuscripts have been handled in the usual way, through international and independent peer reviewing.
Finally, the organizing committee thanks all the contributors to the meeting, the institutions which provided financial support, the authors, the reviewers, and the editorial office of C. R. Chimie. They also wish to their colleagues of the University of Toulouse all the success for the 22nd edition of GECOM–CONCOORD, which will take place between 18 and 23 May 2014 in Vers (Lot, France).
Avant-propos
Né de la fusion en 1993 du « Groupe d’étude en chimie organométallique (Gecom) » et du groupe « Concertation en chimie de coordination (Concoord) », le Gecom–Concoord est une conférence annuelle nationale couvrant ces deux domaines de la chimie. Les cinq dernières éditions du Gecom–Concoord ont eu lieu à Métabief (Doubs, édition 2012), Merlimont (Pas-de-Calais, édition 2011), Lyon (Rhône, édition 2010), Albe (Bas-Rhin, édition 2009) et Dourdan (Essonne, édition 2008). L’édition 2013, organisée par des enseignants chercheurs et chercheurs de l’université Montpellier 2 (Éric Clot, Yannick Guari, Magali Lambert, Joulia Larionova, Danielle Laurencin, Jérôme Long, Laurence Raehm, Fatima Rezkallah, Sébastien Richeter, Sébastien Clément, tous de l’institut Charles Gerhardt), s’est déroulée du 26 au 31 mai 2013 sur la côte méditerranéenne, au Cap d’Agde, station balnéaire bien connue.
Le congrès a réuni une centaine de participants comprenant des jeunes chercheurs, des industriels et des personnalités de renom, qui ont échangé dans la bonne humeur et dans une ambiance conviviale autour de leurs thèmes de recherche (Fig. 1). Les 13 conférences plénières, 38 communications orales et 12 présentations flash, accompagnées des deux séances posters réparties tout au long de la semaine de conférence, permirent d’alimenter les discussions.
Les thèmes abordés au cours de cette 21e édition furent très variés : chimie fine organométallique et de coordination, catalyse, matériaux moléculaires luminescents, magnétisme moléculaire, polymères de coordination, modélisation… traduisant la richesse et la vitalité des recherches en chimie inorganique. Ce numéro thématique des Comptes rendus Chimie vise à donner un aperçu de la variété des thèmes abordés durant la conférence. Tous les manuscrits soumis dans le cadre de cette édition thématique ont été évalués suivant le processus habituel d’arbitrage impliquant des experts indépendants.
Enfin, le comité d’organisation aimerait remercier l’ensemble des participants ayant pris part à la manifestation, les différentes institutions qui ont apporté leur soutien financier, les auteurs, les rapporteurs et toute l’équipe éditoriale des C. R. Chimie. Ils souhaitent à leurs collègues de l’université de Toulouse un vif succès pour la 22e édition du Gecom–Concoord, qu’ils organiseront du 18 au 23 mai 2014 à Vers, dans le Lot.
