François Garin is widely acclaimed both in France and worldwide as an author of scientific papers. In concreto, he has published approximately 160 original papers on different subjects in international journals and a number of reviews and book chapters. He has lectured at 189 French and international level conferences as a presenter or an invited lecturer.
He has mentored 39 doctoral students, and the majority of his original papers were written as collaborations. Through his efforts, long lists of research students have received training in a scientific method that cannot be surpassed. All who worked with him have been attracted by his genial and kind personality, and none failed to be impressed by his intellect and by the high, almost exacting, standards he set for scientific work.
In his chosen field of structured nanomaterials, where he has investigated aspects of their preparation, characterization, and catalytic properties related to chemical kinetics, François Garin is pre-eminent and has established a tradition that will not be easily upheld. Through his work, he is assured of a worthy place in the history of the science to which he was devoted.
François Garin has proven that all boundaries can be broken by the desire to succeed, thereby confirming Euripidean philosophies, which state that great things happen with great force.
