Any researcher is able to spontaneously submit an article to Comptes Rendus Chimie, regardless of his or her institution.
On the other hand, the contribution to a special issue is subject to the invitation of an editor in chief or guest editor of the journal.
Researchers who have won prizes from the French Academy of Sciences are systematically invited to submit an article presenting their research in CR Chimie.
Comptes Rendus Chimie covers all fields of chemistry (organic, inorganic, bioinorganic, organometallic, macromolecular, physical, solid state, etc.). It mainly publishes original research articles, but also review articles, historical perspectives, pedagogical texts or conference proceedings, with no limit in length and in a format as flexible as necessary (figures, associated data, etc.). Articles are published in English or French.
For more information on the type of articles published, please refer to the editorial policy of the journal. For any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the members of the editorial team.
By sending his manuscript to Comptes Rendus Chimie, the corresponding author affirms that :
Articles must be submitted through the Comptes Rendus Chimie submission site.
The corresponding author must create an account, or connect to an existing account if he/she already has one (NB: an account created for another series of Comptes Rendus of the French Academy of sciences does not allow submission to CR Chimie, it is necessary to create a new account).
If you are having difficulty, contact cr-chimie@academie-sciences.fr for assistance.
You can also view the University of Montreal Library's tutorial that walks you through the registration and submission process.
As per the instructions to authors, your submission should include:
All articles submitted to Comptes Rendus Chimie are reviewed by at least two experts who evaluate the scientific and editorial quality of the article and provide feedback to the authors to improve the article. The final decision on acceptance of the article, in its final version, is made by the associate editor in charge of the field concerned by the manuscript and/or by an editor in chief or guest editor.
The editorial decision of acceptance or rejection is communicated to the author as soon as possible, in general 4 to 5 months after the initial submission.
In case of acceptance, the author will have to sign a non-exclusive contract with the journal, for a diffusion of his article under a CC-BY 4.0 license. The author remains the owner of all his or her copyrights (for more information, see the instructions to authors).
The articles are then reviewed by the CR Chimie editorial team, which may contact the authors if necessary to obtain additional information or files (data and/or figures, in particular), and then formatted according to the journal's layout. A Graphical Abstract will be requested if not provided at submission.
The PDF proofs of the text in its original language are sent to the corresponding author. They must be carefully checked and returned as soon as possible. At this stage, only strictly formal corrections are possible. If no response is received within 8 days, the article will be published with the editor's corrections only.
Once the PDF proofs have been validated by the corresponding author, and the full text has been validated by the CR Chimie editorial team, the article is published on the journal's website. It has a DOI and can be cited immediately.
Under the Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 license under which it is published, the article may be translated and distributed by the journal alongside the original article.
