[On the velocity profiles at the centre of turbulent flow in a plane channel]
Close to the axis of a plane channel, the turbulent flow is characterized by the Karman number, , and the mean velocity profiles U (in wall normalisation) take a simple analytic form. The velocity defect behaves quadratically near the channel axis: with . Moreover, the channel core involves a zone where is a linear function of ξ for : where can be parametrized by means of .
