Comptes Rendus Physique is a peer-reviewed, open-access diamond electronic journal that publishes original research articles, journal articles, and texts reflecting the activity of the Academy des sciences in the field of physics and astrophysics.
The Comptes rendus des séances hebdomadaires de l'Académie des Sciences, created in 1835 by Arago, were originally intended to allow researchers to quickly make their work known to the international scientific community. They published only announcements of significant new results in the form of short articles.

Today, the Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des sciences publishes mainly research articles, but also reviews, symposium proceedings, and thematic issues. They are divided into seven journals, each with its own editorial policy: Mathématique, Mécanique, Physique, Géoscience, Palevol, Chimie and Biologies.
