Before Comptes Rendus Physique

The electronic journal Comptes Rendus Physique is one of the heirs of the Comptes Rendus hebdomadaires des séances de l'Académie des Sciences printed journal, founded in 1835 by Arago. A single, multidisciplinary journal for 130 years, Comptes Rendus was subdivided in 1966 into several series to better reflect the increasing specialization of scientific activity.

In addition to the original series, the current CR Physique has several ancestors:

  • Comptes rendus hebdomadaires des séances de l'Académie des sciences. Série B - Sciences physiques (1966-1980)
  • Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences. Série II - Mécanique, Physique, Chimie, Sciences de l'Univers, Sciences de la Terre (1981-1983)
  • Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences. Série II - Mécanique-Physique, Chimie, Sciences de l'Univers, Sciences de la Terre (1984-1989)
  • Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences. Série II - Mécanique - Physique - Chimie, Sciences de la Terre et de l'Univers (1990-1993)
  • Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences. Série II - Mécanique - Physique - Chimie -  Astronomie (1994)
  • Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences. Série IIb - Mécanique - Physique - Chimie -  Astronomie (1995-1998)
  • Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences. Série IIb - Mécanique - Physique - Astronomie (1998-2000)
  • Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences. Série IV - Physique, astrophysique (2000-2001)
  • Comptes rendus Physique (since 2002)

The articles of CR Physique published between 1996 and 2019 are available on the ScienceDirect platform of Elsevier, former publisher of the journal:

  • Articles published in paper format and digitized afterwards (1997-1998, 1998-2000 and 2000-2001): articles in restricted access, a subscription to ScienceDirect is necessary to consult them. For any particular request, please contact us;
  • Electronic articles (from 2002 to 2019): these articles are available in open access, with the kind permission of Elsevier. These latest issues will soon be available on our website.
